Headquarters Campground is located along the Kern River in the Sequoia National Forest, 4 miles upstream from Kernville. The campground is 7 miles from Lake Isabella. Visitors to the campground enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting in the Kern River. Swimming in the river is very dangerous because of strong currents.

Being only a 7 minute drive from Kernville, Headquarters Campground is an easy commute to the grocery store, gas stations, restaurants and rafting outfitters. Just north of Lake Isabella, the Headquarters campground is a lovely spot on right on the river. It is flat and at this time of year there there only a few other campers. Our site was literally a few feet from the river so at night the rushing water was very comforting. The wildlife was abundant especially the birds and at night there is no road traffic.
