Originally owned by Jacob Ford Jr., a prominent Morristown businessman, the mansion served as George Washington's military headquarters from December 1779 to June 1780. Washington’s headquarters has much more to look at. It has a unique old house, extensive grounds and a museum. Knox’s headquarters is also unique in that it’s a beautiful old house that has slaves quarters upstairs built to efficiently use the heat from livestock to heat the house in winter. A running stream is located on the property.
