The shooting range is located on State Route 278, just north of the forest headquarters. The range has nine 25-yard shooting lanes benches. Rules for the range and hours of operation can be found on the ODNR Division of Forestry website.

To get to Zaleski State Forest from Athens, take OH-56 (which begins as West Union Street) miles west from OH-682 (Whites Mill Road) to OH-278 in Vinton County. Turn left on OH-278. Go miles to the backpacking trailhead, on the left. Go miles to the horse trail head. Go miles to the forest headquarters just north of the village of Zaleski.

Covering almost 27,000 acres, Zaleski State Forest is Ohio’s second largest state forest. The 120-acre ‘C’ shaped Lake Hope lies at the center of the state park and provides fishing, swimming and paddling recreation.
